How it works
Genre labels don't match across music and film: "post-punk" and "crime drama" never line up. So Soundtrackd describes both in one shared language of themes, moods, setting, era and attitude, and matches on that.
-
Listen
You type a song or an artist. We find that exact track, then gather what listeners say about it: tags like "post-punk", "road trip" or "melancholy". That tells us how people actually hear the song, not just what the label calls it.
-
Describe
An AI model reads the song and those tags and writes down how it feels. Is it lonely or euphoric, restless or calm? Does it sound like a city at night, a small town, the open road? Which decade does it belong to? This becomes the song's profile, and you see it at the top of every result.
-
Match
The profile is matched against films and TV shows that share the same feel. Each pick comes with one line on why it fits. Then every pick is checked against a real film database, so nothing made up ever reaches you.
An example
Nightcall by Kavinsky reads as a lonely, neon-lit drive at night: urban loneliness, noir romance, a hypnotic pulse. The picks follow that feel.
- Drive (2011). The song's home: a silent driver and neon LA nights.
- Thief (1981). A rain-soaked, synth-scored night of crime with a lone professional.
- Collateral (2004). A taxi ride through LA after dark.
- Miami Vice (1984). The original neon, synth-driven night-time cool.
None of these share a genre with a synthwave track. They share a mood.
It works the other way too
Switch the arrow in the search box and start with a film or a TV show instead. Soundtrackd reads what it feels like and finds songs that belong in it, whether or not they were ever on its soundtrack.
Whole playlists and albums
With Premium, paste a Spotify playlist or album link. Instead of reading one song, Soundtrackd reads the overall feel of the whole thing and finds films and TV shows for that.
Narrowing it down
Not in the mood for a three-hour epic? Filter picks by films or TV shows, decade, language, length and popularity. If none of the picks are right, ask for more and you get a fresh batch for the same song.
Where to watch
Each film and show lists the streaming services and stores that have it in your country, so you can go from a song to pressing play.
Keeping what you find

Why a pick might surprise you
Soundtrackd matches feel, not facts. A song about freedom can lead to open-road films from a different country and decade, and a quiet folk song can land on a slow, wintry drama. If a pick makes sense once you read its one-line reason, it's working.
