Films and TV shows that feel like Dark Necessities by Red Hot Chili Peppers

A groovy, sunlit shuffle with a shadow underneath: the song admits the darkness within and around us while still moving forward with hope and swagger.

2. Drive (2011): Neon-lit LA nights with a cool surface hiding violence and longing.
3. Boogie Nights (1997): Funky, sun-soaked San Fernando Valley story that slides into excess, darkness and a shaky second chance.
4. Inherent Vice (2014): A hazy, groovy California noir where paranoia and warmth coexist.
5. Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019): Sunlit LA drifting with a dark undercurrent beneath the radio-soaked cool.
6. Beastie Boys Story (2020): Old friends, band brotherhood and growing up, from another funk-rap-rock crew.
7. Rock of Ages (2012): Sunset Strip rock dreams, with the pitfalls attached.
8. Euphoria (2019): Addiction and fragile hope in a stylish California setting.
9. Almost Famous (2000): Classic rock-band world of brotherhood, temptation and warmth in 70s California and beyond.
